With over 31 years of distinguished law enforcement service, Officer Adrian Ruiz brings unmatched expertise and leadership to the field of tactical firearms instruction. A 25-year veteran firearms instructor, Adrian has served 14 years on the elite EPPD SWAT team, operating in high-risk, high-stakes environments requiring precision, discipline, and tactical mastery.
Adrian’s experience extends beyond local service—he also served on protection assignments with Blackwater USA in ambassador-level security details in Iraq, reinforcing his breadth of operational knowledge in global protective service.
Since 2017, Adrian has held the role of Lead Firearms Instructor for the El Paso Police Department, where he has led training initiatives and modernized the department’s weapons program. He is a certified Red Dot Sight (RDS) instructor through the Modern Samurai Project under renowned trainer Scott Jedlinski, and is credited with introducing and implementing the pistol red dot program at EPPD, serving as its Lead Instructor.
Adrian is also a certified armorer in AR-style platforms, Glock, and Sig Sauer systems, ensuring a high level of mechanical and operational expertise.
His dedication to service and valor in the line of duty have been formally recognized with the award of three Medals of Valor, a testament to his courage, skill, and unwavering commitment to public safety.
